Témoignage sénatorial | Senate presentation
Hier, j'ai eu l'occasion incroyable d'être reçu comme témoin au Comité sénatorial des langues officielles à Ottawa. J'y étais pour représenter le Conseil jeunesse provinciale et la jeunesse francophone du Manitoba, et j'ai été très heureux de présenter à côté de mon ami Sébastien Lord du Nouveau-Brunswick.
Ça a été vraiment une expérience fascinante. Nous avions été appelé à témoigner principalement sur la question de Radio-Canada, puisque le comité étudie présentement les obligations linguistiques de CBC/SRC. Mais c'était clair après la première heure que les sénateurs n'ont pas souvent reçu des jeunes francophones, et ils ont voulu nous poser des questions sur notre expérience de la francophonie, des médias sociaux, et nos habitudes de consommation culturelle.
On n'a senti aucun antagonisme des sénateurs. On voyait vraiment qu'ils cherchaient à rentrer dans la matière et en connaître le plus possible. Ça a été vraiment enrichissant, et je suis spontanément venu à plusieurs constatations que je n'ai jamais faites auparavant.

Yesterday, I had the unbelievable opportunity to travel to Ottawa to speak in front of the Senate Committee on Official Languages, on behalf of the Conseil jeunesse provincial and franco-manitoban youth. I was glad to present alongside my friend Sébastien Lord from New Brunswick.
It really was a fascinating experience. We had been asked to speak about Radio-Canada, because the committee is currently studying CBC/SRC's linguistic obligations. But after the first hour, it was quite clear that the senators hadn't often received young francophones, and they wanted to ask us questions about our francophone experience, social media, and our cultural consumption habits.
We felt no antagonism from or between the senators. We saw that they clearly wanted to dig their teeth into the subject and learn as much as possible. It was very enriching, and I came to several spontaneous realizations that I'd never made before.
