Parmi les émissions qui ont inspiré ma réalisation de Viens voir ici!, il y a eu une série remarquable intitulée Railway Adventures Across Australia.
Animés par Scott McGregor, six épisodes d'une heure ont été diffusés en 1999 à la télé australienne, chacun explorant un différent état australien à l'aide de son réseau ferroviaire. La série a ensuite été condensée en un documentaire de 120 minutes diffusé à PBS juste avant les Olympiques d'été à Sydney en 2000.
C'est mon père qui a enregistré cette diffusion pour moi sur VHS, puisqu'il connaissait ma fascination anormale avec les trains et l'histoire ferroviaire. J'avais 10 ans à l'époque, donc c'est probablement un des premiers documentaires que j'aie visionné.
15 ans plus tard, j'ai eu l'occasion de tourner ma propre aventure ferroviaire sur l'île de Vancouver avec Laura, Bryan et Kirby. Comme d'habitude, tous les gens qui ont participé au tournage de l'émission ont été incroyablement accueillants et généreux, et je les remercie pour leur aide lors de cette magnifique journée. Ça a été un moment spécial dont je me souviendrai longtemps, en hommage à une série qui a ouvert mes horizons et qui m'inspire depuis un jeune âge.

One of the shows that inspired my directing style for Viens voir ici! was a remarkable series entitled Railway Adventures Across Australia.
Hosted by the phenomenal Scott McGregor, six one-hour episodes were broadcast on Australian television in 1999, each one exploring a different Australian state using its rail network. The series was then condensed into a 120-minute documentary broadcast on PBS just before the Sydney Summer Olympics in 2000.
My father, fully aware of my abnormal fascination with trains and railway history, recorded this broadcast for me on VHS. I was 10 at the time, so it was probably one of the first documentaries I'd ever watched.
15 years later, I got the chance to shoot my own railway adventure on Vancouver Island with Laura, Bryan and Kirby. As usual, everyone involved with the show was so unbelievably welcoming, and I thank them for helping us out on that wonderful day. It was a special moment that I will remember for a long time: an homage to a series that opened up my horizons and inspired me from a young age.
